It was the fourth Braai day held at Buckley’s on the 24th of September with the difference that the day was for the benefit of our Old Age Home – Dagbreek Wonings.
This day is always sponsored by members of the community in the form of Lamb, salads, desserts, groceries and cash donations, and we would like to thank the following people for their unconditional support.
Spesbona – Nick and Zandre, Le Roux Boerdery – PG and Arno, Andre and Marius Share, Annalize Neethling, Lettie Swanepoel, Elize Liebenberg, Karin Pieterse, Chris and Ella Dirks, Trix Swanepoel, Pierre en Annatjie Steyn, Salomien Erasmus, Jan Marais, OVK – Marli Botha and Buckley’s Restaurant. A special thank you for Zetta Scholtz, the manager at Dagbreek Wonings, for all her support during the day.
We managed to raise R6000.00 and would like to thank everybody who attended the braai. Antonie Lombard – a member of the community – was the entertainer for the day and managed to get old and young to sing along to his music ranging from Neil Diamond to Koos Kombuis and we were also privileged to hear him sing his own songs.
Dagbreek Wonings also received a huge donation from The Share family and their friends – they installed a panic button system at the home for all the residents. This system will assist in any situation that calls for help with an alarm buzzing in the office as well as a notification on Zetta and Marco’s cellphones.
On behalf of the residents and the community of Smithfield, we would like to thank them for their generosity and their donation in taking care of our “Oupa’s en Ouma’s.”
We are looking forward to 2017 - in spending time with the Smithfield Community during Braai day.
